For RE in lockdown we are learning about St Vincent De Paul. We had to find his home in google maps and take a picture. Then name a fact of St Vincent De Paul

Sister Aroha

 Kia Ora,

For RE our task is to do a prayer witness challenge and everyday we have a task to do. This task is about Sister Aroha who is a nun from New Zealand that works in Sri Lanka. She works at a orphanage where she takes care of kids that got left by their parents. She thinks that the kids need love and every day they have more and more love in them.

Our task was to answer the questions about her. And also had to look at the differences of Mary and Sister Aroha I think that they are very similar they are both good people.

I really enjoyed researching about sister aroha because she is such a good example of a nun.

Article

 Kia Ora,

I hope everyone is doing good thru this lockdown. For writing we had the task to learn about different types of articles like, Newspaper articles or tv news articles, Magazine articles. I chose to do a Newspaper article. I made it about our lockdown right now.

We had to learn the different components of a article. There are 4 fetaures for a article. 1 Headline - Something that will hook in the reader to read more. 2 Byline to answer the question. 3 Captions sentences under pictures to explain. 4 Pictures or images to explain more to the reader.

I have really enjoyed making my newspaper article.

Orana Park

Kia Ora,

Yesterday Room 5 & Room 6 went to Orana Park. When we arrived both of the classes got separated. And each class got their own zoo school teacher. Room 5's one was named Sarah and room 6's one was called Bethany. We first went to the place where we will put our bags and have morning tea and lunch.

After we put our stuff away Sarah took us to the tigers Their was a really big habitat that was like a Savannah and their was two tigers which were both brothers. Then we visited the Lions and we had to see the differences of their looks and how they hunt.

I really enjoyed The Gorillas because they kept us entertained but it was really funny because they kept 

showing their butt's at us

Earthworms

Kia Ora,

 

Our main topic for this term is Biodiversity, And this time we are learning about worms and how they are good for the environment and by worms I mean Earthworms. We also did a experiment if we could find any Worms by putting water and detergent on the grass and if you wait there should be some worms that come up.

Then after the Experiment we had to research more about earthworms and why and how they are good for the environment. Me and Preston Made a Poster about Earthworms and why they are good for the environment.

I enjoyed Researching about Earthworms because I learnt a lot of things that I didn't know about them.

Friends & Foes

Kia Ora,

This term our main focus is Science and to be more specific Biodiversity.

We have been going to room 6 to learn this we have already done a couple of activities about Friends & Foes

Friends & Foes, Friends help plants to grow and turn into a fruit. But Foes are like enemies  they take all the nutrition from the plant so then it dies.

Graphic Novel

Kia Ora,

For Writing we are learning about graphic novels, And to add pictures so that the reader can understand the novel with pictures and text. We also learned to inference the story to understand more from reading between the lines.

We also had interns to help us and teach us about graphic novels. Miss Ronald & Miss Jackman.

They gave us a booklet where we had to fill it out and it helped us to plan our graphic novel we first had to read other graphic novels then write what you saw from the text and pictures.

After that you had to make your own character and you had to include his/her characteristics. Draw a portrait of them.

Student Summit 2021

 Kia Ora,

Today was the Student summit 2021 the whole ura manuka cluster gathered up at hornby primary. Everyone would go around different stations and learn from different station leaders. The first station was about coggle which is a thing where you can make different bubbles about information. Like if you want to plan about the WWI you can write notes for later.

Me and Mark Also Was teaching others about how to draw. It was kinda challenging teaching others because sometimes they would not understand. but then they will understand. Here are some pictures of the code that was used to draw a triangle and a square

I really enjoyed teaching others how to draw with scratch. Because after we taught how to make basic shapes they made some things of their own.

Baptism DLO

 Talofa Lava,

This term for RE Room's 5 & 6 have been learning about the holy spirit, and how the holy spirit effects the sacraments. Our task was to learn about a sacrament then make a DLO about it and answer the questions that were set. me, Ezra & MarkR. worked together and chose the sacrament Baptism to work on.

I really enjoyed making this DLO because its a change to what we normally do. I really enjoyed on working on the symbol of baptism and what it means. I didn't really like some of the questions because they were kinda difficult so we had to do some more extra research.

The holy spirit effects the sacrament of Baptism because When the person gets baptised they get cleansed from her sins, and they get welcomed to the church. This helps them to follow in Jesus's footsteps and spread the gospel of the God.

Blog - Comic Strip

My name is Manuk and Im going to be tell you what we have been learning for cyber smart,For cyber smart we are learning about why Blogs are important.

I think blogs are important because its a great way to Show others your work and to make it better and so that you can publish it to others to view. So our task was to make a comic strip about what blogging is and why its helpful.

I enjoyed making the shapes for the comic strip.

Kawa of Care DLO

 For Cyber smart today we were given the task to learn about the kawa of care which means how to take car of your Chromebook we had to make our own DLO on how to take care of your Chromebook and what not do.I have a few ways on how to look after your Chromebook.

Fake News

 For cyber-smart we are learning about different media and for this task we had to make our own fake new's with all the thing like fake URL's etc

We had to make it so people believe it with real looking URL's and real looking news. I really liked this activity because i had a lot of fun doing this especially making the title and writing the story

Camp Media

 For cyber-smart we have been learning about different media such as articles movies videos news and others.

Our task was to make our own article and make it about something that happend at school so i did camp since we had camp recently I really enjoyed making the ad's I think that was my favourite part my least favourite party was trying to make my own URL thing

Maori Alphabet

 This week is Maori language week and we had to learn about the Maori language and make a DLO to post to our blogs, I decided to use something else then a normal boring slideshow I used piskel. With piskel I made my Maori Alphabet

Maori Koru

Maori is a very special culture they have different symbols and dances, songs and art but one of the most popular Maori thing is the Koru It comes from the Ponga plant, Maori people like to use the Koru for tattoos art and other things. You can find Maori koru's in mostly damp places so in wet places and all around New Zealand

Pirate Venn Diagram

For topic our task was to learn about the different jobs on the ship, example captain,quartermaster. once we learned about the different jobs we had to make a Venn diagram on the jobs that are on the sea and the ones that are on land. on the left is land and on the right is sea, in the middle is both so the job operates in the sea and in land. If i was to choose a job it would be the captain because you cant to demand stuff and your crew relies on you to be a good captain.

Pirates Timeline

Hello, Today We got the task on learning about famous pirates(because our topic for the term is Pirates) we had to research about them then make a timeline. I did three pirates Calico Jack, Anne bonny and Black beard. Hope you like it.

Pirate Cipher Wheel

This term for topic we are learning about pirates, our first task was to learn about cipher wheels which is a thing to use to make code, we also had to learn about the ceaser code to learn how to use the cipher wheel this is what the cipher wheel looks like this

When using a cipher wheel first you need to know what you want to code, say you want to code Hello you would have to make a code, example- b4 then you would turn it and face it to b4 then from there you see where the h e l l o is so if h was number 14 you would write 14( which means h) then add 8 would be e then 14,8 then l which would be 11 then its then u would be 21 again because of the o now
